Cowal Rugby Club has a large and growing junior section, ranging from Primary 3 all the way through to Secondary School.
All junior training takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm -7pm.
Each Cowal Junior Team consists of kids within the same year group, with similar strengths and abilities. All these teams have the opportunity to compete in games and tournaments taking place throughout the year. As a club we take the teams away to different events and games via the use of a council mini bus , every time we return no matter what the result the kids always have a smile on their face which too us is the most important thing. The kids also have the opportunity, thanks to the SRU, to go to international matches held at Murrayfield Park in Edinburgh at a discounted price and with fantastic seats.
Cowal Rugby Club is also involved within the schools. During the last school session, with the help of the Inverclyde Development Team, we had a very successful inter-primary school rugby tournament, which we hope to continue with over the upcoming years. We also have coaches in Sandbank Primary School during the week and we hope to enter into more schools during this new school term. Not only is rugby in the Primary School but has also been introduced into the Grammar School. Last year a team from the school went to the Oban Youth Games and won the rugby tournament there. The junior section also has a very close relationship with Greenock Wanderers RFC with the two teams playing together at Under 15 levels, with a recent tour of Wales and the Emirates World Seven Tournament.
As a Junior Section we are always looking for new members to come along. Come and see what it’s all about on a Tuesday or Thursday, join in and have a chat to the coaches. With Cowal Rugby Club’s friendly and vibrant atmosphere, everyone is welcome.
